More Road Closures

There are now four closures over the next week:

  • Monday 30 June, 09:00 – 16:00, B3095 between Monkton Deverill & Brixton Deverill. See previous post.
  • Thursday 3 July, 09:00 – 16:00, B3095 between Monkton Deverill & Brixton Deverill. Traffic notice below.
  • Thursday 3 July, 09:00 – 16:00, Hindon Road, Monkton Deverill at Monkton House.  Traffic notice below.
  • Friday 4 July, 09:00 – 16:00, B3095 near Manor Farm, Kingston Deverill. Traffic notice below.

While noting that “access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible“, the 3rd July closures may mean that any Kingston/Monkton residents wishing to travel to Warminster will have to go via Mere. This turns an 11 mile round trip into a 33 mile journey.

B3095 3 July:

Urgent Closure of: B3095 (part), Kingston Deverill
WILTSHIRE COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that on 3rd July 2025, the following length of road shall be closed to all traffic in the interests of public safety to enable M Group to carry out cariageway patching and other associated maintenance works.

B3095 (part), Kingston Deverill; from its junction with C25 for approximatley 750 meters Northeast.

Alternative route (clockwise): Light Vehicles under 7.5t via B3095 (unaffected length), A350, B3089 and A303 (unaffected length).HGVs over 7.5t via B3095 (unaffected length), A350 and A303 and vice versa.

Alternative route (anti clockwise): All vehicles via B3095 (unaffected length), A303 and A350.

The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

These works will commence on 3rd July 2025 and are anticipated to be required for 1 day between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00. This Notice will have a maximum duration of 5 days.

Hindon Road, 3 July:

Urgent Closure of: C25 (part), Kingston Deverill
WILTSHIRE COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that on 3rd July 2025, the following length of road shall be closed to all traffic in the interests of public safety to enable M Group on behalf of Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway patching and associated works.

Hindon Road (part), Kingston Deverill; from outside property known as Monkton House, Hindon Road to its junction with Hindon Road heading East approximatley 30 meters.

Alternative route: via C25 unaffected length, B3095 and A350 and vice versa.

The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

These works will commence on 3rd July 2025 and are anticipated to be required for one day between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00. This Notice will have a maximum duration of 5 days.

Alternative route (clockwise): Light Vehicles under 7.5t via B3095 (unaffected length), A350, B3089 and A303 (unaffected length).HGVs over 7.5t via B3095 (unaffected length), A350 and A303 and vice versa

Alternative route (anti clockwise): All vehicles via B3095 (unaffected length), A303 and A350.

These works will commence on 4th July 2025 and are anticipated to be required for one day between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00. This Notice will have a maximum duration of 5 days.

Mobile Police Stations

 

Wiltshire Police will be operating a mobile police station at given locations between the days of 9-11 of June 2025.

09/06/2025 – Crockerton Garden Centre car park at 11-1pm

09/06/2025 – Upton Scudamore – The Angel Inn Car Park- 14:30-4pm

10/06/2025 – Horningsham – Local Village Hall- 13-3pm

11/06/2025 – Bishopstrow – Cobbett Rise, Bishopstrow, Warminster BA12 9HW by The Church of St Aldhelm- 10-12pm

This opportunity is open to all residents, during this visit the local community will be able to speak about:

  • Crime prevention advice
  • Reporting non urgent concerns
  • Neighbourhood policing updates and Q&A

Duck Race

Our annual Deverills Duck Race will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd May.

The ducks will be on sale at Pope’s Bridge, Kingston Deverill from four o’clock (please bring cash!) and the race will start at five o’clock. Afterwards there will be a family barbecue in the paddock opposite the Bell House (once again, you will need cash for your bangers and burgers).

Everybody is welcome. Please bring your own drinks to the barbecue!

Thank you, as ever, to the Strattons for providing the straw bales to sit on, and for allowing us to use the paddock.

Notice of Election

On Thursday 1st May an election will be held in the Upper Deverills for our Wiltshire County Councillor representing the Wylye Valley. There are four candidates:

  • Lesley Bennett (Liberal Democrat)
  • Nick Bowes (Reform UK)
  • Michal Jirku (Green Party)
  • Christopher Newbury (Local Conservatives)

There will not be an election for the Upper Deverills Parish Council. There are vacancies for five councillors and only four nominations were received. All the existing parish councillors volunteered to continue in their roles.
