Compulsory registration of poultry

New measures to protect the poultry sector better from future avian influenza (bird flu) outbreaks have been set out by the government. Under the changes announced there will be new requirements for all bird keepers – regardless of the size of their flock – to officially register their birds by 1st September 2024. Currently only those who keep 50 or more poultry must do so. See the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) post here.

Upper Deverills Wildlife and Conservation Group

Living in a place of great natural beauty, we are very fortunate to share the valley and the surrounding downs with a rich variety of flora and fauna, some of which are scarce elsewhere.  In January a number of folk got together to form the Upper Deverills Wildlife and Conservation Group.  Its purpose is to share a love of nature and take practical action to study, conserve and rebuild natural habitats and reverse the current frightening decline in species.

For all the details see Wildlife and Conservation Group.
